Saint Joseph/Kansas City, Missouri based rock outfit Amenazar, has been thumping crowds in the Midwest for a while now with their passionate live shows and unique brand of indie/alt rock. The architecture of their sound having been developed over time in the working-class neighborhood known as “the north end” Band members Scott Foulk (vox), Bruce Condon (guitar), Everett Jonas (drums), Brandon Daniels (bass), and Dennis Mendoza (guitar) have been longtime friends and musical collaborators. With collective personal histories that could be made into dramatic films it’s nothing short of amazing that the quintet has been able not only to push past their personal setbacks and traumas (whew!) to create great original music, but that they have consistently done so at a level that begs attention. Their scarce but very intense live performances have helped contribute to their folklore and garnered the respect of fellow musicians across genres. It’s brooding, growling, intelligent, emotional, and belongs to them.
In 2020 they put forth Sleeping Giant, an internally curated collection of 9 works that the band believed represented their history playing together as a band and sampled a variety of their creative endeavors musically. They have not let up. Be on the lookout for new releases throughout 2023 and beyond as Amenazar continues to explore their musical landscape with all the scars, the fury, and the focus they bring to the cannon.
